Definition

Core Web Vitals are three real-user-data metrics: Largest Contentful Paint (loading), Interaction to Next Paint (responsiveness), and Cumulative Layout Shift (visual stability). They're a ranking factor and a strong UX signal. Modern frameworks (Next.js, Astro) and CDNs are essential for meeting them at scale.

Example

A site that loads in 1.2s, has INP under 200ms, and zero unexpected layout shifts has excellent Core Web Vitals.
